OSRAM has made a significant move by acquiring a 25.1% stake in LeddarTech, a leading Canadian laser radar company. This strategic investment is set to reinforce OSRAM’s position as a key player in the autonomous driving industry. Based in Quebec, LeddarTech was established in 2007 and has since developed cutting-edge technology that complements OSRAM’s semiconductor solutions. The two companies have previously collaborated, with OSRAM investing tens of millions of euros in LeddarTech.
LeddarTech specializes in solid-state laser radar (LiDAR) systems that use infrared light to detect and monitor surroundings. Their patented LiDAR technology is already integrated into semiconductor and sensor modules used in autonomous vehicles and advanced driver-assistance systems (ADAS).
Stefan Kampmann, OSRAM’s Chief Technology Officer, emphasized the importance of this partnership: “As a global leader in induction lamps for self-driving vehicles, we see increasing demand in this sector. Investing in LeddarTech will help us become the preferred solution provider in this rapidly growing market.â€
