This groundbreaking product line includes the industry’s first 3A devices in SMA packages, 3A and 4A in SMB packages, 4A in SMC packages, and even 5A options. These rectifiers are designed to enhance performance in a wide range of applications such as consumer electronics, LCD TVs, power supplies, and lighting ballasts.
The new FRED Pt rectifiers combine ultra-fast recovery times with soft recovery characteristics, along with low forward voltage drop and minimal leakage current. This unique combination helps reduce switching losses, improving efficiency and system reliability across various power management solutions.
Engineers now have more flexibility with these rectifiers, as they come in multiple package types and current ratings. The SMA package supports up to 3A, SMB up to 4A, and SMC up to 5A, enabling higher power density and lower system costs. The "U Speed" Ultrafast version offers a lower forward voltage, while the "H Speed" Hyperfast variant features reduced reverse recovery charge, making it ideal for high-frequency applications.
These FRED Pt rectifiers are suitable for use in power factor correction (PFC) diodes, discontinuous conduction mode (DCM) and critical conduction mode (CRM) boost diodes, as well as freewheeling diodes in power switching systems. Their planar structure ensures long-term stability, durability, and reliability, thanks to advanced platinum doping techniques that control device lifetime.
With a maximum junction temperature of +175°C, these components are built for robust and reliable operation in demanding environments. They also meet strict moisture sensitivity standards (MSL 1 per J-STD-020) and can withstand peak lead-free reflow temperatures of +260°C. Additionally, the products are RoHS compliant and free from halogens, meeting global environmental regulations.
