On July 15, Honda officially unveiled the all-new 10th-generation Accord in Detroit, USA. This new model marks a significant shift with its fresh design language, updated chassis architecture, and advanced powertrains. It’s equipped with a choice of 1.5T and 2.0T VTEC TURBO engines, along with a hybrid option. Notably, the 2.0T engine pairs with the world's first 10-speed automatic transmission for front-wheel-drive vehicles. Reports suggest that the new Accord will launch in China later this year.
The vehicle boasts several standard safety features such as tire pressure monitoring, side airbags, knee airbags, and driving mode options including normal and sport modes. These driving modes adjust the car’s variable-ratio electric power steering, transmission responsiveness, active dampers, and active sound control systems accordingly. High-end trims come with an active noise cancellation system featuring three microphones and a comprehensive suite of Honda SENSING safety technologies, including forward collision warning and braking, lane departure warnings, adaptive cruise control with low-speed following, traffic sign recognition, blind spot monitoring, and rear parking sensors.
In terms of dimensions, the new Accord sees a 55mm increase in wheelbase, a 10mm boost in both length and width, and a 15mm reduction in height compared to its predecessor. The LED headlights are now integrated seamlessly with the grille, offering a sleeker appearance enhanced by chrome accents. The fog lights have been redesigned, and the body features smoother lines, culminating in a sportier rearward-slanting roofline. The taillights also utilize LED technology, giving the car a modern and aggressive look.
Inside, the cabin includes an 8.0-inch touchscreen display that supports both touch and physical button inputs. Users can customize the button layout according to their preferences. The infotainment system is compatible with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, allowing seamless smartphone integration. Remote vehicle functions like starting, locating, and emergency assistance are accessible via a dedicated mobile app.
Safety continues to be a priority, with standard features like tire pressure monitoring and side airbags, while higher trim levels offer advanced driver-assistance systems such as adaptive cruise control, lane-keeping assist, and traffic sign recognition. The interior reflects premium materials and craftsmanship, enhancing comfort and luxury.
Under the hood, the 10th-generation Accord offers three powertrain options: a 1.5-liter turbocharged engine producing up to 194 horsepower and 260 Nm of torque, paired with either a six-speed manual or continuously variable transmission (CVT); and a 2.0-liter turbocharged engine delivering up to 255 horsepower and 370 Nm of torque, mated to either a six-speed manual or a newly developed 10-speed automatic transmission.
This new Accord not only strengthens Honda's position in the midsize sedan segment but also sets a benchmark for innovation and performance in its class. Fans of the Accord eagerly anticipate its arrival in China, promising another chapter in Honda's legacy of excellence.
