New Home Shopping Sharing HiVi HiVi H5MKII Bluetooth/WIFI2.0 Wireless Active Speaker

The reason I didn't go for a more expensive TV when I bought the 43W2D 43-inch LCD TV was simply to save up for this HiVi H5MKII Bluetooth/WiFi 2.0 wireless active speaker. My second-hand house is still in the repayment phase, and my wallet isn’t exactly full. In fact, there are plenty of 2.0 Bluetooth speakers available on the market—brands like Edifier, Swans, and even JBL are easy to find online. But I ended up choosing the H5MKII because it fits my needs perfectly. Most of the time, I use it to connect to my LCD TV via Bluetooth for watching movies and TV shows, which significantly improves the sound quality. I also connect my phone or portable player to it for music playback. What really caught my attention was its Wi-Fi function. Compared to Bluetooth, Wi-Fi offers a wider range without obstacles, so I can enjoy music anywhere in the house. Plus, I love the remote control and the piano-paint finish (my wife likes it too, #^.^#). Unboxing the H5MKII, it came well-packaged with bubble wrap on both top and bottom. The accessories were neatly arranged in separate boxes, and the speaker cabinets were wrapped in protective bags to prevent scratches. Inside the box, there was one main speaker, a remote control, a main-to-sub box cable, an RCA to 3.5mm audio cable, an optical cable, a power cord, and a manual with a warranty card. A battery was already installed in the remote, along with a spare Panasonic button battery. The remote control is made of full metal with a brushed finish and gold keys. It’s small and easy to hold, but the metal feels cold in winter. Some buttons feel a bit stiff, with a short key travel. It has controls for power, mute, two audio inputs, Wi-Fi mode, Bluetooth mode, optical, coaxial, and volume adjustment. There's a small slot at the bottom of the remote that can be used to store a credit card-like item. The main and sub speaker cables have a foolproof design with fixed nuts to prevent loosening. The RCA to 3.5mm cable and fiber optic cable are included, making setup simple. After connecting everything, I replaced my old LCD TV with the new HiVi H5MKII. Since the house is still under renovation, it was a bit messy. The front panel is a solid metal panel with a treble and bass unit covered by a metal mesh. Given that we have cats and plan to have children, the mesh gives me peace of mind. The piano-paint finish looks elegant, though it tends to show dust easily. I recommend using the included dust covers when not in use. The tweeter is a 26mm metal dome unit, known for its bright, clear sound. The 5.25-inch bass driver features a high-intensity damping PP diaphragm and a bowl-shaped cover. On the main speaker, there’s a power switch and volume control on the right, and a high/low frequency knob on the left. An infrared receiver and LED indicator are also present. Different modes (Bluetooth, Wi-Fi, etc.) are indicated by different colors. The back panel has an inverted hole, so the speaker should be placed away from the wall. There are four rubber feet at the bottom, though metal feet would look better. Connecting via Bluetooth was smooth, with a blue indicator light. For Wi-Fi, I preferred the wireless connection. It’s more convenient for moving around the house. Setting it up required connecting to the speaker’s network, entering the password, and accessing the web interface to link to my home router. After testing, the H5MKII delivers a warm and full sound, perfect for vocals. While it maintains the classic Swans style, it’s updated with modern features like Bluetooth, Wi-Fi, and digital coaxial input. **Pros:** - Stylish metal panel and piano paint finish. - Metal mesh protects the drivers from pets and kids. - Remote control allows switching between modes easily. - Supports multiple connections: Bluetooth, Wi-Fi, optical, coaxial, and LAN. - LED indicators make it easy to identify modes. - Volume and frequency can be adjusted directly on the cabinet. - Warm and rich sound ideal for vocals. **Cons:** - Wi-Fi setup is functional but not as user-friendly as an app. - The metal mesh cannot be removed, making cleaning difficult. - Piano paint shows dust easily. - Spikes are short; longer ones would improve aesthetics. Overall, the HiVi H5MKII is a versatile and stylish speaker that meets both practical and aesthetic needs.
