Taiwanese telecommunication service providers, including Asia-Pacific Telecom, Weibo Telecom, Taiwanese Columbia Telecom, Far EasTone, etc., have all purchased Huawei equipment, mainly for use in some local area networks and cores. The internet.

It is understood that some imported products are still being seized by Taiwan Customs.

Since India and the United States blocked the transactions involving Chinese companies, Taiwan’s fear of espionage capabilities in the Mainland has increased and it is believed that its products endanger the security of the island and disputes whether the telecommunications industry can use Huawei’s products.

NCC Committee spokesman Chen Zhengcang said that the Executive Yuan has asked him to deal with the matter with a legal and cautious attitude. He said telecommunication companies that plan to purchase telecom core network equipment must be approved by the two agencies of the NCC and the Bureau of Investigation. Due to national security issues, telecommunications companies may consider other suppliers that provide similar technologies.

He also suggested that the Ministry of Economy should clearly list all telecommunications products that are prohibited from importing from the mainland, so that telecommunications companies can comply with the list, thereby avoiding any confusion.
