SiFirst Technology has recently launched two new driver ICs following the introduction of SFL668 and SFL669 in the offline AC/DC low power LED lighting field. They are SFL678 and SFL688 respectively. The two new ICs use a primary-side feedback (PSR) control architecture, which eliminates the need for optocouplers and many auxiliary components commonly used in traditional flyback designs, significantly reducing system cost. At the same time, these two new ICs have undergone many new functional designs and optimizations, making them ideal for high-end LED lighting applications.

SFL678 has a temperature management control function called Temperature Foldback, which can greatly prolong the life of LED lamp beads and ensure the normal operation of LED lighting lamp cups and LED lamps during the warranty period. Its unique non-linear temperature turn-back technology can effectively monitor the temperature of the LED system. At the temperature turn-back point, the LED current is reduced, and the brightness of the LED is also reduced until the system temperature falls to a safe range. In order to meet the demand for high-end light ratios of high-end customers, SFL678 also uses a patented extended synchronous dimming technology that supports analog/digital/TRIAC dimming with a dimming ratio of up to 1000:1.

SF688 is an ultra-high constant current LED constant current driver. The chip uses a patented constant current control and correction technology, combined with the built-in system constant current point temperature compensation function, can achieve mass production of 3% of the constant current accuracy, to achieve the industry's highest level of simulation. The constant current error of the PSR constant current system mainly comes from: (1) The constant voltage of the chip controls the reference voltage of the comparator. (2) Transformer coupling and resistance accuracy errors. (3) The error caused by the system temperature characteristics. (4) The error caused by the non-ideal implementation of the PSR control algorithm. SFL668 strictly controls the reference voltage of the constant current comparator to ensure that the error is less than +/1%; the IC internally compensates for the system temperature characteristics; the control algorithm automatically compensates for variations in line voltage input and transformer inductance; and the constant current control algorithm is adopted. The patented constant current control and correction technology compensates for the non-ideal characteristics of the original PSR algorithm.

In addition, SFL678/SFL678 has a very wide VDD operating range, from 10V to 30V, which makes the LED system design more flexible; these two ICs also have a flexible, comprehensive system protection features to improve performance while ensuring the reliability of the system Sex. The SFL678 is available in a small SOT23-6 package and the SFL688 is available in a small SOT23-5 package.
