A South Korean media reported that TCL Corp., a leading LCD TV manufacturer in mainland China, said on the 9th that the company will reduce the proportion of outsourcing production of LCD panels, which is expected to drop from 100% to 60% in the next year. TCL said the change could have a negative impact on LCD panel makers in Taiwan and South Korea.
LCD panel LG Display currently produces 90 million LCD TVs a year, while next year's LCD panel production capacity is only 30 million. The Taiwan factory AUO is the main panel supplier of TCL.
Shenzhen Huaxing Optoelectronic Technology Co., Ltd., which holds 55% of TCL's shareholding, is expected to increase its LCD panel production capacity to 15 million units next year, while the TCL LCD panel outsourcing ratio will gradually decrease.
