Texas Instruments (TI) and Lyrtech have jointly announced a complete hands-free kit (HFK) reference design for use with the new TMS320C54HFK DSP, further simplifying the system design of the car hands-free cellular phone kit. The new, compact, small reference design provides OEMs with all the necessary hardware and software to help them deliver a unique, high-quality cell phone HFK reference design that supports Bluetooth and audio streaming capabilities. Automotive options and accessories market demand; and provide OEMs with the flexibility to freely add more proprietary or off-the-shelf algorithms to meet their specific product needs. The new reference design based on TI's DSP platform eliminates the need to further design any core hardware or automotive audio software modules, saving OEMs time and reducing development time by nine months.

TI's HFK reference design is a comprehensive system solution that includes hardware, schematics, and lithography files, so customers no longer have to worry about software and hardware development, component selection verification, and testing for reference designs. Product quality, custom-made features, reduce development time by at least 40 weeks, while saving costs.

Greg Eslinger, vice president of engineering at Acoustic Technologies, points out: "The large on-chip memory space and high-performance processing power are critical to the DSP in the HFK reference design. The new TI TMS320C54HFK DSP is optimized for HFK reference designs. Achieves optimal performance and offers more on-chip memory options than other manufacturers' products. This enables our SoundClear® software to achieve clear sound quality and higher quality by eliminating echo, noise cancellation and enhanced audio performance. Experience."

Built on TI's audio-optimized TMS320C54xTM DSP, the HFK reference design provides designers with an efficient way to achieve high performance, low power operation and low system cost, making it ideal for audio-specific applications. With the expertise of many TI DSP third-party network members, designers can use this reference design to get easy-to-use hardware and software for higher quality handheld devices. The design leverages Acoustic Technologies' key software algorithms to offset echo, reduce noise, improve call quality, and deliver clear audio, helping engineers design the industry's best hands-free devices to ensure the best user experience.

TI's Bluetooth technology comes from Adamya Computing Technologies, TI's leading third-party partner, providing long-term support for TI customers with high-quality support for Bluetooth communication software that can simultaneously handle audio and data streams for handheld device pairs The growing demand for Bluetooth technology and the evolving trend are needed. By integrating Bluetooth technology, the Bluetooth-enabled phone from any manufacturer can use this HFK reference design. With Bluetooth and audio streaming, customers no longer need a hands-free phone stand, so even if a new phone is added to the car, there is no need to upgrade the kit, simplifying the system and ensuring that no matter what customer is using Products get more consistent functionality. Lyrtech has extensive design experience in advanced DSP development solutions, and on this basis, the company provides a complete package of solutions and technical support to provide users with greater flexibility. In addition, through the effective integration of system design and manufacturing capabilities, Lyrtech is also able to provide rapid support to customers who wish to achieve mass production as soon as possible, which will help OEMs significantly reduce production time and speed time to market. Through the above cooperation, customers can not only ensure that the launched products are put into use immediately, but also differentiate products by adding customized software features or OEM proprietary software.

The solution not only provides standard features such as Bluetooth software, noise reduction and echo cancellation, but also enhances the user experience with more software-customized designs such as address book download and speech recognition. Bluetooth A2DP technology for audio streaming allows the driver to enjoy MP3 music played on the phone through headphones or car speakers, as well as to a laptop or other Bluetooth-enabled sound system. Another useful feature is the automatic mute of the car stereo when a call is received.

John Dixon, TI's marketing manager for global low-power DSP products, said: "The HFK reference design helps OEMs take the lead in car kit development. Experienced DSP third parties deliver proven technology while leveraging TI's leadership in the hands-free car kit DSP market, OEMs will be able to quickly and easily provide high-quality cellular phone HFK for the automotive options market."

The HFK reference design is based on TI's HFK development platform, which provides OEMs with the software and tools they need to design their own HFK products that support the C54HFK DSP. In addition to TI's Code Composer StudioTM IDE library sample and Code Composer Studio tool trial version, the HFK development platform includes Acoustic Technologies' SoundClear® software, which combines patents for echo cancellation, noise cancellation, sound quality enhancement, and full-duplex control. The algorithm, by cooperating with each other, can greatly improve the sound quality and improve the clarity of the call. In addition, Acoustic Technologies' RAPID-HFKTM conditioning tools help manufacturers quickly and efficiently adjust designs.

TI offers a variety of analog and logic components for a complete HFK reference design effort. For example, the BTR6300, which enables Bluetooth 1.1, 1.2, and 2.0 specification connections with very low power consumption, supports higher data rates of 2 Mbps and 3 Mbps. The TLV320AIC31 low-power stereo audio codec delivers excellent audio quality (100 dB signal-to-noise ratio) and the audio/control interface works seamlessly with the TMS320C54HFK DSP.
The HFK reference design began accepting orders through Lyrtech in December 2006 and is priced at $495.
