According to the website of the Ministry of Commerce, in February, the nationwide sales of home appliances to the countryside were 8.871 million units, which was slightly lower than that in January, and realized sales of 20.86 billion yuan. The year-on-year increase of 126% and 168% respectively. The top two TV and refrigerator sales were RMB 6.99 billion and RMB 5.33 billion respectively, and sales of the two types of products accounted for 59% of total sales.
From January to February this year, the nationwide sales of home appliances to rural areas totaled 19.359 million units, which achieved sales of 46.21 billion yuan, exceeding 20 billion yuan for two consecutive months. The year-on-year increase was 99% and 141% respectively.
As of February 2011, the country has sold 134 million units of home appliances to the countryside, achieved sales of 287.958 billion yuan, and accumulated subsidies of 32 billion yuan.
