China's LED industry must increase personnel training

The "First Led General Lighting Product and Technology Seminar" co-sponsored by China Lighting Institute and Shenzhen Zhongming Semiconductor Lighting Co., Ltd. was held in Beijing recently. More than 100 experts and scholars from relevant national ministries, China Illumination Society, and lighting attended the conference.

According to the person in charge of the China Lighting Association, this seminar aims to coordinate the implementation of the national "energy-saving and emission reduction" policy and accelerate the development of efficient lighting products.

As a new type of light source, semiconductor lighting (LED) has become a global competition because of its characteristics such as low temperature, power saving, long life, and no secondary pollution. Today, a series of green concepts such as low-carbon, energy-saving, and environmental protection are prevalent. An emerging industry “commanding height.” LED lights are known as “green lighting energy,” and the product does not contain mercury, lead and other internationally-restricted six hazardous substances. At the same brightness, the power consumption is only 1/1 that of ordinary incandescent lamps. 10, its life span can be extended by 50 times, and has become the representative of the fourth generation of energy-saving products in the world.

The delegates agreed that in today's increasingly prominent energy and environmental issues, the work of energy conservation and emission reduction has become more important and LED lighting is urgent. Under the premise of failing to develop alternative energy sources, how to make more effective use of existing energy resources is an effective way to solve the energy shortage problem. Because of the characteristics of high efficiency and energy saving, the LED industry will inevitably become the focus of attention and development of the countries, regions and related industries.

“Japan started the '21st Century Photovoltaic Project' in 1998 to focus on the development of the LED industry. South Korean President Lee Myung-bak clearly stated that it is necessary to increase investment and build Korea’s LED industry into the top 3 in the world by the end of 2012. The United States has supported LED since 2000. The industry subsidies up to 50 million U.S. dollars per year, said Dr. Jun Jun, Deputy Secretary-General of National Semiconductor Lighting Engineering R&D and Industry Alliance.

With the rapid economic development, China has become the world's largest energy-consumption-consuming country, where the consumption of lighting electric energy accounts for about 20% of the total electric energy. How to increase the total efficiency of lighting has become an important factor in resolving the problem of power shortage. In 2003, China urgently started the national semiconductor lighting project. In the next 5-10 years, solid-state lighting using LED semiconductors as light sources will gradually replace traditional lighting.

And enter every corner. If the existing fluorescent lamps in the country are retrofitted with LED lighting products, the electricity consumption will be reduced by 100 million kwh per day. It is estimated that the use of the world's leading electronic energy-saving and electric light source integration technology will save 40 billion kilowatt-hours of electricity for lighting in China in one year.

"China's development of LED lighting industry has a certain technical and industrial base, but also a major raw material for the production of key raw materials, more importantly, the government has the commitment to energy-saving emission reduction and the determination to cultivate strategic emerging industries, which is our advantage." Jun Jun pointed out.

According to his research data, in 2009, China's LED output value has reached 2.3 billion yuan, the chip industry from scratch, the annual growth rate of 25%, the localization rate of 52%. However, according to Philips' bold prediction, China's LED lighting industry will reach 80 billion euros in 2012, showing that China's LED industry has great potential for development.

However, experts also have a clear understanding of the problems in China's LED industry. "China's LED industry has not yet formed a complete industrial chain, developed countries in the LED chip technology to control the right to speak, 80% of high-end chips rely on imports; the second is the lack of a unified production standard; Third, LED lighting test methods are not uniform. This has limited the development of China's LED lighting industry.” Ren Yuanhui, a researcher of the Indoor Lighting Professional Committee of the Chinese Lighting Institute analyzed.

The experts suggested that China's LED lighting industry should take the channel of branding, increase the vertical integration of the industry, promote cross-industry restructuring, pay attention to R&D investment, and increase the training of talents. “The country has established the LED lighting industry target, to achieve the industrial scale of 500 billion yuan, to replace 70% of the imported chips, annual electricity savings of 100 billion degrees, ranking the world's top three.” Jun Jun introduced.
