LED market research institute LEDinside released the overall LED chip factory revenue report in Taiwan in July, the leading manufacturer Crystal Power's monthly revenue growth rate reached 8.8%; the agency said its main contribution comes from some high-end mobile phone secondary screen (sideview) urgent single. Can Yuan was benefited from the rebound in demand for small and medium-sized panels, with revenue growth of 10.5% in July. The new Century Optoelectronics, due to the customer cluster in the mainland outdoor billboard market, so revenue is less affected by the demand for small and medium-sized backlights, and continued to record highs.
According to statistics from LEDinside, the total revenue of LED manufacturers in Taiwan in July 2008 totaled 5.822 billion yuan, which was warmer than the 5.479 billion yuan in June, but it was 2.5% lower than the same period last year. The performance was not as good as the traditional peak season. (MoM 6.3%, YoY-2.5%). Among them, LED die factory's total revenue in July was 2.555 billion yuan, an increase of 5.1% from the previous month. rLED packaging manufacturers' revenue in July was about 3.267 billion, an increase of 7.2% from the previous month.
As for the downstream LED package, orders for deferred customer adjustments in June have gradually returned, including backlights for mobile phones and small and medium-sized panels. Among them, Yiguang's revenue growth in July was about 2.2%. Hong Qi is benefiting from the new NB's LED illuminated keyboard, and some sideviews are eager to note, so July revenue has grown by 32% compared to June.
Overall, July's revenue performance was warmer than the inventory count factor in June, but the performance is still not as good as the traditional peak season. LEDinside said that the main reason is that this year's upstream grain manufacturers have significantly expanded their production, making the price drop more than in previous years. In addition to the global economic downturn this year, consumer products are not as strong as they used to be.
Looking forward to August, in addition to the strong demand for high-brightness LED market, the visibility of other large-scale products such as sideview is still low. In the case that the upstream capacity is not disconnected, LEDinside estimates that there is still room for price reduction in the third quarter.
